The Botija Ranch is located 6km from San Isidro on the road to Rivas in Perez Zeledon and 12km from San Gerardo of Rivas where the highest peak in all of Costa Rica is located. “The Chirripo Peak” has an altitude of 3820 meters above sea level and is one of the most visited places in Costa Rica.

The Botija Ranch was born in August of 1996 with the idea of promoting the archeological side of the southern zone of Costa Rica that few people know about.

This area was an indigenous settlement during 1200 a.d. where the Chirripoes Indians lived and later in the year 1500 a.d. when the Cabecar Indians lived.
The trails lead us to the Petro glyph stone, or the map rock of the Talamanca mountain range, or the twin Indian stone, this stone is known by all 3 names.

The property is located next to the road and it has a total area of 23.36 acres, with coffee plantations, sugar cane, bamboo forest, cattle fields, cattle, horses, sheep, chickens, fishing, etc.
It was a very important place because it is the highest part (1000mts) on the road going from San Isidro to Rivas.

THREE NATIONAL PARKS

The Chirripo Peak is the highest peak in Costa Rica with a height of 3820 meters above sea level and it is the second highest peak in all of central America (number one being the Tajumulco 4210 meters above sea level located in Guatemala) Regardless, the national park Chirripo is unique because of its natural beauty and resources, its unforgettable views, its glaciers and for the easy access that its many trails provide the tourists. This park was declared biosphere reserve in 1982 and a world treasure in 1983.
Glacial Lakes
La Amistad: In 1992 the UNESCO declared it the biosphere reserve La Amistad, and in 1983 as a world heritage area due to its universal importance, not just from a scientific point of view, but also for its great natural riches and resources that are worth preserving.
Corcovado: (tropical rainforests, flora and fauna)

The Botija Ranch in Perez Zeledon is a mountain hotel where you can enjoy with your family a quiet and relaxing time. It is great to get cozy and enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer. Also great for bird watching.
The Hotel has 11 rooms with private bathroom and hot water, surrounded by beautiful natural scenery.

For Groups
Our mountain hotel has a capacity for 37 people. The rooms are furnished with either a desk or a table, chairs, night stand with lamps. Organized camping can also be arranged, there are many areas just for that.

We work only by reservations and we do not accept guests without a reservation after 8:00pm

Restaurant:
Our restaurant is very cozy, panoramic and full of history. Our restaurant offers excellent national and international dishes for you to enjoy.

We have delicious breads, cakes, coffee’s, natural drinks and sandwiches all made in our very own restaurant.

Families
Enjoy with the family, rest, talk, meditate, observe, write, read, play, swim, exercise, fish, take a ride on a boat, play card games, walk the trails, ride a bike, these are some of the things that you can do to spend some nice quality time with your family.
We are open to the general public Tuesday through Sunday from 9-5 for use of the pool, restaurant and the cafeteria.

• Mountain bike tours for groups of 12 people, amateurs, professionals or simply just to have fun, you are welcome to bring your bike or you can rent one here.

• Visit San Gerardo of Rivas located 12 kilometers away and the Chirripo peak which is the highest in the country and one of the most visited.
• Los Cusingos in Quizarra of Perez Zeledon, a bird refuge where Mr. Alexander Skutch dedicated 60 years of his life in the pursuit of knowledge about nature. He wrote several books. Some of those books are: “A Naturalist in Costa Rica” and “The voice of nature”

We are located 6km from San Isidro of Perez Zeledon on the road that goes to Rivas and to the Chirripo Peak.
If you come from San Jose by car it will take you 3 hours or less depending on the traffic. When you arrive to San Isidro keep going on the road that heads south, you will pass 2 bridges and when you are finished taking the curve you will need to switch to the middle lane. You will see Maxi-bodega supermarket and then you will take a left and go up the hill and then you will take another left and then you just keep going straight for 10 minutes until you find us. We have black gates, flags and a light-up sign. If the gates are closed please ring the bell if you are looking for lodging.
